Who is better?
OK, I’m in one of my occasional Hemingway moods. He has a darkness, a foreboding in most of his work and we are in dark foreboding times.
His comment here would be well applied to both sides of the political aisle today. (Or are there three sides now?) It also echoes Harry Truman’s quote that it is amazing how much you can accomplish if you don’t worry about who gets credit.
Peter heard his fate from Jesus’ lips and asked, “What about this man?” referring to John. Jesus said, “What is that to you? You follow me.” (John 21:22)
Following the Lord makes us better people. Being better improves our lives and the lives of those around us in ever expanding circles that for some mean only family, but for others mean touching the world. Most of us are in between.
Will you rise to a nobility better than your former self? Sadly, we have so far to climb that we could do it every day and never reach the pinnacle. Thankfully, that’s why we have Jesus. 😊
