Never let A Disaster Go To Waste
It’s been a rough week all right. A lot of us had snow, cold, no power, and various disasters to go with it. Covid is getting old. No school is getting old. Politics are getting old.
Good time to write metaphors and similes or even scenes for a future date while the sensations are fresh on your mind.
How rough was it? Pick a topic. Hunger? Boredom? Roommate? Cold?
It was colder than a Martian midnight.
It was colder than a corpse’s kiss.
It was colder than being splattered by a snow plow as you get out of the shower.
It was colder than a lover’s lie.
It was colder than an ice knife stuck up under your ribs.
It was colder than a gladiator’s heart.
It was colder than a dog’s nose at 5 AM under your warm blanket.
How cold was it?

It was colder than The Ice Queen of Charn. (Try saying that 5 times fast and it comes out: the ice cream of charm. I wonder what that tastes like?)
Wasn’t she a Good Humor driver back in the 60’s who got caught in a freak snowstorm with a Yeti and became the mother of those Disney princesses?
