A Flood, An Exodus, A Return

I’ve been neglecting this site for a while. We had some issues here that kept us busy.

It was like watching a car wreck in a silent film comedy in slow motion.

After nine months of searching, we finally got a guy to come out and replace our thirty-year-old septic system. They dug 15 x 60 foot hole in the back yard and a 15 x 10 foot hole in the front. The dirt was, and is, piled everywhere. The project took three weeks with pauses for inspections, designs, and electricians.

Two days after they were done the finished basement flooded for a different reason and we had had a parade of dry out folks, insurance folks, tear out the walls and rugs in four rooms folks, and packers to move all the stuff in those rooms for storage. Next will be trips to carpet stores and paint stores, followed by various painters, installers and then movers to bring all the stuff back.

            BUT WAIT>>>!

Right after the flood began, the exodus began. One of the five professional caregivers who help with my 92-year-old mother-in-law came down with pneumonia followed quickly by a positive Covid-19 test. Another caregiver tested positive, so we tested said mother-in-law: positive. Then the agencies pulled ALL the caregivers, and we were on fourteen days of quarantine handling Mom 24/7 by ourselves: the normal work of seven people. God is good and she had no symptoms and the positive caregivers also survived as well.

            BUT WAIT>>>!

In the middle of it all our daughter in law went in for a seven-hour cancer-removing surgery. Scary stuff but good results so far.

 And the HVAC went out.

We came off quarantine yesterday and are catching up on bills, correspondence, and sleep. Oh, blessed sleep.

They say your true heart is where your treasure is. 😊 I would love to sell 2,000 books from this site, but our treasure is our family and our God. With His help, both are still intact, and He will sell all the books he wants.

            Welcome back.
